less than two miles from the picturesque medieval
village of Dunster
and within the Exmoor National
Park, Grooms cottage nestles in a south facing
position with panoramic views over the Avill valley
which inspired C. F. Alexander to write the famous
hymn “All things bright and beautiful”.
It is an oasis of peace and tranquility.
Grooms cottage
is approached through Avill Nurseries which is
a working wholesale nursery (not open to the public)
specialising in camellias and rhododendrons.

Grooms
cottage, a single storey detached cottage
with leaded windows, is situated near to the owners
home, sharing the garden but with its own private
area and patio with garden furniture and barbecue.
The cottage is tastefully and comfortably furnished
with co-ordinating quality fabrics and fitted carpets
throughout. |

Accommodation
|
The double
aspect lounge/diner/kitchen has a comfortable
cottage suite, colour TV with video recorder,
oak dining table, night storage radiator and log
effect electric fire. There is also a radio/cassette/CD
player. The room leads on to the patio through
large french windows which take advantage of the
magnificent views.
The well equipped kitchen has an electric cooker,
a microwave oven and a fridge. The bathroom is
fitted with a soft cream suite and has an electric
shower over the bath, a shaving socket and heater. |

Two steps lead from the hall to
the pretty bedroom with a double bed, pine furniture
and a night storage heater.
Duvet, bed linen, towels and
tea towels are all provided and beds are made
up prior to your arrival. Electricity is metered
and charged at cost on your departure. Laundry
facilities are available. Plenty of car parking
adjacent to the cottage.

Dunster
is one of the prettiest villages in Somerset,
famous for its castle now owned by the National
Trust. Other attractions include the yarn
market, a working water mill, packhorse bridge,
dovecote, beautiful church and the overall
ambience of cobbled streets and medieval buildings.
The village offers dining facilities for all
tastes – tea shops, restaurants and
pubs. |

The Avill valley and surrounding
area offer spectacular scenery of unspoilt countryside
and moorland. The area abounds with wildlife including
wild ponies and Red Deer. It is magnificent countryside
for walking, horse riding (Riding center nearby),
cycling or just enjoying the views along winding
country lanes to the picturesque villages and
attractive coastline; drive or walk over the heather
clad moor or into deep wooded combes.
Taunton, The county town is
within easy reach as are the famous Doone valley,
Porlock and Lynmouth harbours. Nearby, Minehead
offers a variety of attractions including the
indoor Aquasplash and the West Somerset Railway.
A short drive will also take you to Selworthy,
known for its idyllic village green surrounded
by ancient thatched cottages and its lovely old
church. Other villages worth a visit include,
Allerford with its pretty packhorse bridge, Bossington
with a medieval farm park open to the public and
Horner where you can relax and enjoy a cream tea
in the gardens.
